Lignor ESB® – Engineered Strand Board – Bi-directional Strength. ESB® can be used in a range of applications, namely; commercial and industrial flooring ie. container flooring, concrete formwork, and Structural Insulated Panels (SIP) for housing.

ESB® has an internal Bond up to 5 times softwood Orientated Strand Board. Internal bond, also known as tensile strength, shows the performance of the , which is fundamental to the overall product strength.

ESB® can be used for industrial flooring or to manufacture Structural Insulated Panels (see below). Lignor has also used existing veneering technology to provide a highly attractive and stronger ESB®. Veneering ESB® can significantly increase the strength of the board, making it even more suitable for applications where strength is paramount, i.e. container flooring.

Structural Insulated Panels (SIP)

The Structural Insulated Panels Association (2012), explain SIP to be “a high performance building system for residential and light commercial construction. The panels consist of an insulating foam core sandwiched between two structural facings”. “SIP are manufactured under factory controlled conditions and can be fabricated to fit nearly any building design. The result is a building system that is extremely strong, energy efficient and cost effective. Building with SIP saves; time, money and labour.”

Lignor ESB® provides a very suitable facing material for SIP. Lignor SIP achieved very positive testing results at The University of Western Australia about 20% stronger than conventional OSB (Orientated Strand Board) SIP.
